3 TRANSFER TARGETS CELTIC COULD EXPLORE THIS SUMMER

With the international break leaving us with no Celtic matches for a fortnight, naturally the transfer rumour-mill has started to go into overdrive with a number of players being linked with a potential summer move to Celtic.

Celtic's transfer business has come under scrutiny from the Celtic support in recent times, with the last few windows resulting in far too much money being wasted on players who haven't been good enough to make a real impact in the side.

That poor decision-making over the last few seasons has resulted in Mark Lawwell losing his place as Celtic's Head of Recruitment, and a busy summer transfer window is expected to make up for the poor windows we have witnessed over the last four windows.

The retirement of Joe Hart as well as potential departures of star players such as Matt O'Riley has only heightened the importance for Celtic to get this transfer window right.

Here is A Celtic State of Mind's transfer round-up on the latest rumours concerning the Hoops:

Etienne Vaessen

As previously mentioned, the retirement of Joe Hart means that Brendan Rodgers will be on the lookout for a new goalkeeper this summer.

Given how indispensable Hart has been to Celtic over the last few years, it is vitally important that Celtic get this signing right as they cannot find themselves in a similar situation to that of 2020/21 when they wasted big money on Vasilis Barkas.

The rumours indicate that KRC Waalwijk's Etienne Vaessen could be that man. Currently plying his trade in the Dutch Eredivisie, Dutch outlet Brabants Dagblad reports that Celtic have already made an offer for the 28-year-old Dutchman who is out of contract this summer.

After suffering a serious head injury earlier in the season, Vaessen has bounced back for the relegation-threatened side, with PSV Eindhoven also registering an interest.

Angus Gunn

Should Celtic be unsuccessful in their approach for Etienne Vaessen, making a move for Scotland number one Angus Gunn could be a shrewd alternative.

A massive part in the Scottish national team's recent resurgence, a number of pundits have tipped Gunn to become the next keeper at Parkhead.

The clubs have negotiated well with each other, with Adam Idah recently moving on loan, and should the Canaries be unsuccessful in their promotion push, Celtic could pick up Gunn for a much cheaper fee.

Callum O'Hare

Coventry City's attacking midfielder Callum O'Hare could be another option for Celtic this summer. After a long injury layoff, O'Hare has bounced back in style for Coventry as he has contributed heavily towards their run to the FA Cup semi-finals as well as their ongoing push for a play-off place.

With O'Hare out of contract this summer, clubs are taking notice, with Leicester City, Rangers and Celtic all interested in picking him up on a free transfer.

The 25-year-old has nine goals and four assists this season, and could provide a solid option for Celtic in adding more attacking options to the squad.
