Brendan Rodgers has been the topic of discussion in Scottish Football this week after his SFA hearing resulted in a one-match ban on Friday afternoon.
The manager was summoned to appear before the beaks after he made some controversial comments following Celtic's defeat against Hearts at Tynecastle, name-dropping John Beaton in his post-match interview after a number of the interventions made by the Video Assistant Referee came under the microscope from both pundits and punters alike.
The hearing concluded that the manager would be handed a one-game ban, meaning he missed this weekend's trip to Almondvale to face Livingston but will return in time for the massive derby match at Ibrox next week.
After a week in the headlines, the manager faced the media for his pre-match press duties yesterday, and here are the key talking points we took from Brendan Rodgers' press conference:
Touchline ban
The manager was quizzed about his thoughts on the touchline ban he was given in the aforementioned SFA hearing on Friday afternoon.
Brendan Rodgers responded: “Yeah, absolutely. I won’t be going golfing, that’s for sure. I’m obviously disappointed to get banned for the first time in my career, but I respect the decision and we’ll find a way around it.
“We have been preparing all week for the game and over these next couple of days we’ll finalise that. The players will go in, I’ll have a seat in the stand and I’m sure we’ll be able to have communication from there.
“I’ve not been overly thinking it. It was only yesterday it was confirmed. I’ve always been a coach who has loved being down on the pitchside with the players so that if I need to make any quick changes, it’s there.
“But I’ve also got big trust in my staff here as well, and like I say, we’ll be in communication. But the players will go into the game knowing exactly what it is they have to do and we’ll have that communication with the bench."
Given how advanced technology is nowadays, the manager should have no problem communicating with his staff and his players, with work no doubt being prepared in the mid-week training.
Injury updates
Celtic have been hard done by with injuries this season, and the first question the manager was asked was on the condition of his squad following the international break.
Celtic were boosted by Cameron Carter-Vickers' availability, with Rodgers also revealing that Reo Hatate was available and took part in a bounce game during the international break to help build up his fitness.
Yang Hyun-jun was feeling some tightness but made the bench against Livi, whilst Luis Palma is still unavailable.
Arguably the biggest loss of all was the announcement that Callum McGregor would miss the trip to Almondvale, with the gaffer unwilling to risk him on the plastic pitch.
The captain will, however, be available for next weekend's trip to Ibrox to face Rangers, a welcome addition to this Celtic team.
