Celtic have found themselves in many different predicaments when it comes to team selection this season, with Brendan Rodgers rarely having the chance to field a full-strength starting XI due to the sheer amount of injuries his side has sustained.
This is a frustration that the manager has admitted, saying: "That's been the biggest frustration over the course of the season, having not been able to put out our strongest XI.
"We can still finish off the season in a really high moment."
Rodgers would be right with his closing statement as, for once this season, the manager actually has a good kind of selection headache and that comes in his midfield.
There are probably around five different players with a solid case for starting in Celtic's midfield three, with Tomoki Iwata, Callum McGregor, Matt O'Riley, Paulo Bernardo and Reo Hatate all presenting potential options that the manager could turn to for this weekend's trip to Almondvale.
The gaffer's squad looks to be coming together at exactly the right time this season with the title race only growing in intensity, but who starts for Celtic in the midfield this weekend?
Callum McGregor
The captain has been out of action over the last few weeks as he recovered from an injury he picked up in the first-half of Celtic's 7-1 demolition of Dundee.
The injury meant that he missed Scotland's recent international fixtures, and his absence was felt as the Tartan Army slumped to two defeats against the Netherlands and Northern Ireland.
Tomoki Iwata has been performing admirably in that midfield role over the last few fixtures, but his lack of pace could prove to be a problem, especially when partnered alongside Callum McGregor as they like to pick up similar spaces.
As a result, it seems most likely that the Japanese international will make way for McGregor as the anchor of Celtic's midfield.
Matt O'Riley
The Dane was Celtic's star performer in the first-half of the season, but even the biggest of Matt O'Riley fans can see that his form has started to slip away since the turn of the year.
Whilst his performance in the last fixture against St Johnstone resembled something close to his best, we need to see that on a consistent basis once again to aid Celtic's title push.
Paulo Bernardo
Paulo Bernardo's performances for Celtic since signing on loan in the summer from Benfica have really split opinion amongst the Celtic support.
Whilst there have been plenty of bright spots such as his phenomenal finish against Rangers as well as a few flashy passes and neat touches, these moments are few and far between and he needs to start performing on a consistent basis.
Luckily for Bernardo, this game may have come a bit too soon for Reo Hatate, who recently returned from injury and was training with the first-team before the international break, but expect to see the Japanese star making a cameo from the bench in place of Bernardo later in the game.
