HOW WILL BRENDAN RODGERS LINE CELTIC UP FOR THE HUGE GLASGOW DERBY AGAINST RANGERS?

Brendan Rodgers will be fully prepared for the biggest game of the season, as arch-rivals Rangers make the trip to Parkhead for a title-deciding showdown.

Celtic go into this game with a three-point gap at the Premiership's summit, and will be eager to all but secure a third consecutive league title with a victory over Rangers.

The stakes are always raised on derby day, but the potential league title ramifications makes this match all the more important, and Brendan Rodgers and his players look up to the task at hand under the Parkhead sun.

Here is A Celtic State of Mind's team prediction for the titanic tussle for the title:

Joe Hart

The experienced stopper has been raising his game at a key point in the season for the Hoops, making some decisive saves in big games to keep the champions on top.

Celtic will likely be facing more chances than they usually would on league duty against Rangers, and they need Hart at the top of his game.

Alistair Johnston

Johnston has been one of Celtic's most consistent performers in this title run-in, and the pressure will be on him to contain Rangers' pacey attackers at Parkhead.

Our opponents may turn this into a physical battle, and Johnston is always up for that.

Cameron Carter-Vickers

The American has been back on track after a shaky display under the Hampden sun during Celtic's semi-final defeat of Aberdeen, and he will be a key player for Celtic this afternoon given just how important he is to Celtic's backline and transition to attack.

Carter-Vickers has had many top performances against Rangers over the years, and Celtic need to see that from him once again.

Liam Scales

Scales' performance will be under the microscope of pundits and supporters as he is regarded by many to be the weakest member of the Celtic backline.

Scales has delivered on derby day before and, buoyed by signing his new deal, the Irishman will be determined to step up again.

Greg Taylor

Taylor will be looking to get involved in the attack and will be aided by the return of a certain Japanese winger down the left-flank.

Having struggled to transition from Ange Postecoglou's style of play, Taylor has settled into Brendan Rodgers' left-back berth over the last few months.

Matt O'Riley

The Dane scored an incredible 'panenka' in the last fixture against Rangers, and will be looking to turn in another top performance on derby day.

His delivery to Kyogo for the Japanese forward's second goal against Hearts was nothing short of sublime, and there is no doubt that O'Riley could hold the keys to Celtic breaking down a rigid Rangers backline.

Callum McGregor

The Captain was back to his brilliant best against Hearts at the weekend, helping to set the tempo and receiving a loud cheer for a double tackle in the second half.

He will be expected to orchestrate the pace of the game once again on derby day, and perhaps leave in a heavy tackle should it be needed.

Reo Hatate

The Japanese playmaker started his first derby of the season at Ibrox, and is much sharper now than he was back then.

Hatate showed against Hearts that he can make Kyogo come alive in the box and he could be a big influence on the outcome of this afternoon's clash.

James Forrest

James Forrest has been much-lauded since his return to this Celtic side.

Brendan Rodgers prepared us for the return of the veteran by calling the one-club man Celtic's "best winger".

Forrest has repaid his gaffer's faith in him with a string of vintage performances and this should be rewarded with a starting berth in the biggest game of them all.

Kyogo Furuhashi

Having scored seven goals against Rangers in 2023, Kyogo is so often the difference-maker on derby day.

The on-form Japanese forward is still looking to get his first goal of 2024 against Rangers and who would bet against him getting that today?

Daizen Maeda

Returning to the team after being ruled out with a 'season-ending' injury, Daizen Maeda will provide a massive boost for Celtic, and a nightmare for James Tavernier.

The winger did the damage within the first 30 seconds at Ibrox, and should be deployed high against the Rangers' backline from the first whistle this afternoon.
