MCGREGOR AND PALMA BOTH IN LINE TO RETURN AT IBROX

Celtic have been hampered by injuries for the majority of this season, with manager Brendan Rodgers even admitting when speaking to the media that it has been incredibly frustrating.

The manager stated mid-March "That's been biggest frustration over the course of the season, having not been able to put out our strongest XI.

"We can still finish off the season in a really high moment."

The second-sentence from the manager is the most important, as in the weeks following that interview Celtic were boosted by the returns of a number of key players.

Reo Hatate had been ruled out for most of this season, but made his return to the starting eleven for the first time since October 22nd at Almondvale last weekend.

Cameron Carter-Vickers also played the full 90 minutes, something that has been a rarity in an injury-plagued campaign for the American, and he did that accompanied by Liam Scales in the centre of Celtic's defence.

Given Scales missed out on the St Johnstone fixture prior to the international break, the manager will be delighted to have the Irishman back in the team and will be hoping he can repeat his Ibrox exploits once again this weekend.

We know what Cameron Carter-Vickers can do against Rangers, and we know Hatate can provide the extraordinary against Philippe Clement's side, and Celtic could be adding to the returns of those impactful players with another two stars returning from injury.

Callum McGregor

The captain has been a key player for Celtic this season, but has missed the last few weeks as well as Scotland's international break through injury.

If you had followed the injury timeline that Brendan Rodgers has been laying out for him when speaking to the media, you would have expected McGregor to return to the starting eleven against Livingston last weekend.

However, McGregor didn't make the squad for that fixture, and comments in the post-match press conference from John Kennedy hinted towards the captain already being fit, but not being risked on the plastic surface at Almondvale.

That would be a wise decision from the management team given how important McGregor is going to be for the team going into the business end of the season, and having players that know how to handle themselves on derby day will be incredibly key.

The captain was one of Celtic's standout performers in the last meeting at Ibrox, creating space for himself to have the freedom of Ibrox to roam and find teammates, and will be hoping to run the show once again this weekend.

Luis Palma

Luis Palma has missed the last few weeks with injury and wasn't expected to return to the squad until mid-April. However, recent reports are indicating that the Honduran international is ahead of schedule with his recovery, and could even be involved in the match on Sunday.

Reports from The Sun indicate that he has been involved in training this weekend, and will be looking to win the race against time to make the squad for the derby.

Celtic need as many impact players as possible this weekend, and having Palma on the bench gives Celtic are further depth of options to bring on should the game not be going their way.
