RANGERS VS CELTIC TEAM PREDICTIONS: RODGERS MUST GET THE TEAM SELECTION RIGHT

Celtic are preparing to take the field against Rangers on Sunday in what could be one of the biggest games of the last few years in Scotland. A match that wields major title implications for the end of the season, it really feels like whoever wins this game at Ibrox will be the team that holds the league title aloft at the end of the season, and as reaffirmed by Brendan Rodgers when speaking to Sky Sports Scotland ahead of Sunday's game, it is vitally important that Celtic don't lose.

With another derby to play at Celtic Park later in the season, Celtic can afford simply a draw at the weekend so long as they come out on top at Parkhead later in the season, but for added assurance as well as the passion that comes with playing in this fixture, Celtic will definitely be going for the win.

Here are A Celtic State of Mind's team predictions for the all important fixture on Sunday.

Joe Hart - Hart would have been delighted to keep another clean sheet at Livingston last weekend, just his second clean sheet since returning from the winter break, but Hart will need to be on high alert given the threat that Rangers can pose is far greater than that of Livi.

Alistair Johnston - Arguably Celtic's most consistent performer over the second-half of the season, Johnston has really worked on his attacking game over the last few weeks, and there are no doubts that he will be up for the physical battle at Ibrox.

Cameron Carter-Vickers - The American dealt with the physical threat that Tete Yengi posed last weekend fairly comfortably, a test that will serve him well for playing against a very physical Rangers team this weekend.

Liam Scales - Looking far more assured accompanied by Cameron Carter-Vickers in the centre of defence, Scales will be looking to turn in a spirited performance similar to his man of the match display at this ground earlier in the season.

Greg Taylor - So often an influential player playing in that inverted role, Taylor will have to be at the top of his game to rise to the occasion this weekend.

Callum McGregor - Tomoki Iwata makes way for the returning captain who is incredibly experienced in this fixture. Given the freedom to roam the Ibrox turf last time out, McGregor will be hoping for another influential display in the midfield.

Matt O'Riley - The Dane has looked closer to his best over the last few fixtures, and could be hitting form at the perfect time with some important games ahead.

Reo Hatate - The Japanese immediately improved Celtic's attacking play when he returned to the field at Almondvale last weekend, and he has the proven quality in derby matches that Celtic can lean on if the going gets tough.

Nicolas Kuhn - Kuhn has been coming onto a game in recent weeks but will need to raise his levels even higher as he is handed the biggest test of his Celtic career.

Kyogo Furuhashi - Kyogo knows how to be the difference-maker on derby day, and will be hoping to wreak some more havoc on that Rangers backline.

Daizen Maeda - An important player for Celtic over the last few weeks, he will be key in keeping James Tavernier quiet on that left-hand side.
