CELTIC V DUNDEE TEAM RATINGS: THE MAGNIFICENT 7

Celtic demolished Tony Docherty’s Dundee side last night in a performance that many supporters of the Bhoys have been waiting to see for a number of weeks.

The importance of carrying over the second-half hunger shown against Motherwell had been stressed on the ACSOM Bulletin a number of times leading into this midweek clash.

Celtic managed that and more as they smashed six goals past the Dark Blues in the first-half, with young Daniel Kelly coming on to add a seventh in the second period.

ACSOM is coming to Dunoon for the first time next month. Click on the flyer below to secure your tickets!

But how did the team perform? Here are A Celtic State of Mind’s team ratings from the 7-1 victory:

Joe Hart – 6

Hart was busy in the opening few minutes, but after that it was plain sailing for the Englishman, who will have a lot to say to his defenders for Dundee’s late consolation goal from Michael Mellon.

Alistair Johnston – 8

Johnston carried over his impressive performance from Fir Park to Parkhead yesterday as he was constantly providing a threat down the right-hand side, laying off a brilliant cross for Adam Idah’s goal.

Cameron Carter-Vickers – 7

Carter-Vickers got just shy of 60 minutes on the park and, despite an early error, he was solid throughout, opening the scoring with a bullet header.

Liam Scales – 6

The Irishman was easily brushed aside for a disallowed Dundee goal, and his passing wasn’t as slick as we have come to expect from him.

Greg Taylor – 8

Taylor was on hand to provide another top-class assist, this time for Matt O’Riley, and even grabbed a goal of his own as he was the beneficiary of a heavily deflected cross.

Matt O’Riley – 8

The Dane was finally back to his old self once again as he grabbed two assists and a goal for his efforts. The only question is whether he is able to maintain such impressive form.

Tomoki Iwata – 7

Iwata brought the muscle and strength to a Celtic team that has been severely lacking it at times this season, sweeping up any dangers that Dundee posed.

Callum McGregor – 7

The captain was afforded a rest at half-time given the gulf in the scoreline, but in his 45 minutes on the park he turned in a top display which he capped off with a well-placed finish.

Yang Hyun-jun – 8

The Korean was playing with confidence after an impressive cameo at Fir Park, and he caused all sorts of problems for Celtic target Owen Beck as he terrorised the Dundee backline for 75 minutes.

Adam Idah – 7

Given the nod ahead of Kyogo Furuhashi, Idah justified the manager’s decision by grabbing another header for the side’s second of the night.

Daizen Maeda – 7

The only member of the front three to see out the full 90 minutes, Maeda scored the pick of the bunch as he scored Celtic’s fourth after just half an hour.

Substitutes

Daniel Kelly – 6

Kelly was given 45 minutes on the park as he replaced the captain at half-time, and after showing some neat moments on the ball, he slammed home Celtic’s seventh on his weaker foot.

Stephen Welsh – 5

Welsh was solid when brought on for Carter-Vickers in the 60th minute.

Kyogo Furuhashi – 4

Kyogo wasn’t at is best in his half-hour on the park as he gave up possession far too easily on a number of occasions.

Anthony Ralston – 5

Ralston didn’t have much to do when he came on, with the game already long won.

Luis Palma – 5

The Honduran came close to scoring an extraordinary goal as his long-distance effort took the paint off of the crossbar.
