WHO WERE CELTIC'S STAR PERFORMERS AGAINST SAINTS AS RODGERS PREPARES TO FACE ABERDEEN?

Celtic returned to winning ways against St Mirren in the final match before the split. After a lacklustre first-half that was devoid of the drive and intensity required at this stage of a title race, a switch was flipped at the break as Celtic looked like a completely different team in the second period.

Reo Hatate opened the scoring after 52 minutes with a ferocious strike, his first goal since returning from injury two weeks ago. Kyogo Furuhashi added a header shortly after, and substitute Adam Idah capped off the performance with a goal from the bench for the second week running.

How did the side perform in what was a comprehensive victory over the Buddies, and who gave Brendan Rodgers food for thought for this weekend's Scottish Cup semi-final against Aberdeen?

ACSOM is coming to Dunoon for the first time next month. Click on the flyer below to secure your tickets!

Joe Hart - 6

Hart faced zero shots on target as the away side couldn't get anywhere near testing the Celtic number one.

Alistair Johnston - 8

The Canadian was in fine form against St Mirren as he grabbed two assists, including a phenomenal cross for Kyogo's goal. His attacking play continues to improve as the season progresses.

Cameron Carter-Vickers - 7

Carter-Vickers bossed proceedings as he didn't allow many shooting opportunities for St Mirren. The former Spurs defender looks to be back to his best once again following an injury-plagued campaign.

Maik Nawrocki - 7

It was a rare start for the Pole at Parkhead and he was impressive on the day, helping Celtic to a clean sheet which has been hard to come by over the last few months.

Greg Taylor - 7

It was a relatively routine performance from the left-back against a side that didn't pose any real attacking threat on the day.

Matt O'Riley - 7

O'Riley helped keep things ticking along in the middle of the park without doing anything eye-catching on the day.

Tomoki Iwata - 6

Given how dominant Celtic were on the afternoon, there wasn't much for Iwata to do given his defensive style of play.

Reo Hatate - 7

Hatate was a key player for Celtic as his attacking influence became clear for all to see. He scored a brilliantly taken effort to put Celtic in front in the second-half and he is hitting the heights at a key point in the season.

Nicolas Kühn - 6

Kuhn brought an energy to the Celtic attack but couldn't make much happen in a productive sense. He was replaced by James Forrest as Celtic were able to make a sixth change due to St Mirren utilising a concussion substitute.

Kyogo Furuhashi - 7

The Japanese took up lots of good positions but his teammates weren't reading his runs. That was until Johnston found him with a cross after an hour and the 29-year-old buried the header.

Yang Hyun-jun - 7

Playing on the opposite side to his usual flank, Yang was constantly involved and making things happen as he looked to make the position his own in Daizen Maeda's absence.

Substitutes

Stephen Welsh - 6

Welsh got half-an-hour on the field as he replaced Maik Nawrocki.

Callum McGregor - 6

McGregor wasn't fit enough for a start once again, but he looked solid when he came on to the field.

Luis Palma - 6

The Honduran returned to the team after an injury layoff and came close to scoring with a long-range effort.

Paulo Bernardo - 6

The Portuguese midfielder couldn't make a similar impact from the bench as he did in his previous two substitute cameos.

Adam Idah - 7

Idah made another positive impact from the bench as he added Celtic's third and final goal of the afternoon. He will be unlucky not to be rewarded with a start due to Kyogo also scoring.

James Forrest - 6

Forrest was brought on for the final 10 minutes after replacing Nicolas Kühn. The veteran winger seems adept at creating chances in the dying stages of games and he did just that as he was involved in the build-up to Idah's 86th-minute goal.
